Step by step guide

Step 1: Make an appointment with FS.

The first step in starting fertility treatment is to make an appointment with Fertility Solutions. You do not need a referral from your doctor to see a fertility nurse specialist for a consultation.

Your first consultation with us is free.

Step 2: Get a referral to a FS specialist

If it is decided that you need to see a FS specialist you will need a referral from a GP your GP for an "indefinite referral" which will last "as long as you need it for fertility treatment".   A referral from a specialist is current for only three months.  Your referral must be current in order to claim from Medicare. If you're not sure about which of our fertility specialists to see, you can find a list in the section 'Our Team'.

Step 3: Meet with a FS specialist

At your first meeting, your Fertility Solutions specialist can organise any special tests that could be needed in your situation and give you advice about the choice available and most suitable for your treatment. If you have already had some tests done, or have had treatment elsewhere, it would be helpful if you brought along information that you have.

Step 4: Meet with a FS nurse specialist

You can also see a nurse for a free chate before you commit to a fertility specialist doctor

Once you've decided to proceed with treatment, the next step is a meeting with a fertility specialist nurse, who will explain in detail what to expect, what needs to be done, and what your treatment cycle involves. This nurse will be your personal fertility nurse and is available for you to contact directly via email or phone to discuss any issues or concerns. This is also an opportunity to ask questions and to tour the clinic.

Part of the interview process involves a careful explanation of the costs involved with your cycle, including particulars about Medicare, rebates and out-of-pocket expenses.

We can then get started as soon as you're ready. Your Fertility Solutions doctor will oversee your care, in addition to the ongoing personal attention you'll have your own small team of appointed nurses throughout the treatment and be introduced to the scientist who you can communicate directly with should you have any questions.
